Mordecai Persuades Esther to Help
Many of the Jews are in mourning because of the King’s edict. Mordecai is in sackcloth and ashes and is not permitted into the palace while in mourning. Esther hears through her servants and finds out what is troubling him. He asks her to help. Esther reminds him that it is against the law for anyone to see the King if not summoned. He reminds her that she is still not safe. She agrees to see the King after her fellow Jews have fasted and prayed for three days.
