The Jews were able to assemble and defend themselves from those who would have killed them. Many of their foes were killed, including Haman’s 10 sons, but they did not take the plunder. Esther requested and the King gave them one additional day to fight their enemies.
Purim Established
Mordecai wrote that these two days should be celebrated each year as a remembrance of the time when a plot against the Jews was turned on its head and the enemies of the Jews were punished.
