Nehemiah 2

Artaxerxes Sends Nehemiah to Jerusalem

Nehemiah goes before the King and the King notices he is downcast and asks the reason. Nehemiah replies with his concern for Jerusalem since the gates had been burned and the walls were in disrepair. The King asks what he would like to do and Nehemiah asks the king to provide letters of passage to the governors of Trans-Euphrates so that he may travel to Jerusalem to inspect the city‘s wall.

Nehemiah Inspects Jerusalem’s Wall

Once Nehemiah arrives, he goes out on his own to see what is left of the wall of the city and the gates.
